Back 3000 B.C. – 30 B.C, the Egyptians used to make a statement with what they wore as they clearly showed their beliefs with the numerous sacred symbols.They took massive importance to their appearance.

When creating their outfits the Egyptians kept in mind their environments of the hot deserts so therefor their outfits were not only fashionable but also cool and comfortable to wear.

The characteristics of their outfits were:

Variety of vibrant colours

Lots of gems

Lots of body adornment

In today's fashion we are also very inspired by the Egyptian period as it delivers interesting and beautiful elements

Mara Hoffman - Fall 2012

Hoffman designed resort wear for Miami fashion week that was inspired by Egyptian art and African tribal culture (colour schemes). She created interesting swimwear with vibrant colours and interesting patterns.

In some of the patterns you can notice certain Egyptian symbols that were stylized and combined with repetitive patterns that created a very effective outcome.

The other outfits of the fashion show also showed brilliant and sophisticated exotic prints and colour scheme. In my opinion the designer managed to show her enthusiastic inspirations of the Egyptian period very well as the outfits are very fashion forward.
